2nd Book and Play Choice

Thanks for attending our first official book discussion. A big thank you to April Ramsey who lead the discussion. It was so engaging and loved that everyone participated. We put to vote our next book which will be:
"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen

An atmospheric, gritty, and compelling novel of star-crossed lovers, set in the circus world circa 1932, by the bestselling author of Riding Lessons. When Jacob Jankowski, recently orphaned and suddenly adrift, jumps onto a passing train, he enters a world of freaks, drifters, and misfits, a second-rate circus struggling to survive during the Great Depression, making one-night stands in town after endless town. A veterinary student who almost earned his degree, Jacob is put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It is there that he meets Marlena, the beautiful young star of the equestrian act, who is married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. He also meets Rosie, an elephant who seems untrainable until he discovers a way to reach her.An atmospheric, gritty, and compelling novel of star-crossed lovers, set in the circus world circa 1932, by the bestselling author of Riding Lessons. And for our next PLAY we have decided to see:

"All the world's a stage," says Shakespeare, and of all his plays, this one has it all: love, betrayal, forgiveness, earthy clowns, soaring philosophy, captivating music, some of the most beautiful poetry ever written...and perhaps the most famous ever on-stage wrestling match. This is Shakespeare at his dramatic and poetic best; come discover your part in a play. Apr. 16 through May 23

Here are the dates we are thinking of attending the play as a group: April 13, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30
